On April 2, 2021, she announced she will be suspending her musical activities indefinitely starting December 31, 2021, but will continue seiyuu activities. On May 18, 2023, she announced on her official website that she would be resuming her musical activities in August 2023.

While she has been a relatively successful seiyuu by averaging around 2 or more main roles per year, she has a much more extensive music career. Her music career was such that her backing band "CMB" (aka "Creative Music Band" and "Chihara Minori Band") actually released its own instrumental album and had its own one-man live in 2012.[1] Since 2014, her backup dancers are even a well-known entity "CMD".

Early in her career, for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya series, she performed “Hare Hare Yukai” (#5 on Oricon charts; along with Hirano Aya and Goto Yuko) the ending theme to season 1.

Starting around 2007 and going through 2015, she was extremely successful with all her singles from the 2nd to the 22nd making the Oricon top 20 singles charts and 5 making the top 10 with PRECIOUS ONE (2009) peaking at #5. Even the singles that did not make the top 20, only starting in 2019 did she have a charting single outside the top 40.

From 2007 to 2019, she has released 27 singles:
