Seiyū Kohaku Uta Gassen (声優紅白歌合戦) was founded by veteran seiyuu Nakata Joji as a music festival event (like Kōhaku Uta Gassen aka NHK's "Red & White Batle") where only seiyuu are invited as performers.[1] The project came to life after Nakata's tweet near the end of 2017, saying that “it’s a generation where seiyuu no longer just do voice acting, but branch out to all sorts of activities. Why don’t we start a ‘Seiyū Kohaku Uta Gassen’?”. The project was finally started at the end of 2018.
The first event was held on April 14, 2019 in Maihama Amphitheater (part of Tokyo Disney which is technically in Chiba Prefecture) and main hosts were announced to be Suwabe Junichi and Ueda Kana, who were both fellow seiyuu from the FATE anime series franchise by Type Moon.
The 2020 event was cancelled due to COVID[2][3] and the 2021 even was held online in February. The 2022 event was held in January.
