Biography[]

Toyosaki Aki was born on October 28th, 1986 in Tokushima, Japan. She is the second eldest of three daughters. In middle school she was a member of the baseball club, and it high school she was a member of the biology club. In high school, she appeared on the saturday night TV program Doyo wa Naisho!!. She was also interviewed in 2008 on the program 530 Focus Tokushima.

From 2005 to 2006, Music Ray'n took applications for their "Music Ray'n Super Seiyuu Audition". Tanaka Rie also attended the audition venue. Toyosaki remembered a letter she recieved from a viewer of Doyo wa Naisho!!, telling her she should become a seiyuu. She felt that people would support her if she were to audition, and so she applied for the contest with the thought of "giving back what has been given [to her]."

In 2007, Toyosaki made her voice acting debut as Ninagawa Amuro in Kenko Zenra-kei Suiei-bu Umisho. Her first notable role as Su in Shugo Chara came not long after.

In 2009, Music Ray'n announced the formation of a new unit, Sphere. Toyosaki became a member of Sphere along with Tomatsu Haruka, Takagaki Ayahi, and Kotobuki Minako. Later in 2009, Toyosaki's notability increased when she voiced Hirasawa Yui in K-ON!. On her birthday, she made her debut as a solo singer with Love Your Life.

In 2010, Toyosaki won her first award at the 4th Annual Seiyuu Awards for best musical performance, along with the other members of the unit Ho-kago Tea Time formed from K-ON! (Hikasa Yoko, Sato Satomi, Kotobuki Minako, Taketatsu Ayana).

In 2011, Toyosaki won the Best Seiyuu Award at the 10th Tokyo Anime Award for her role as Hirasawa Yui in K-ON!!. At the 5th Annual Seiyuu Awards, she won the Best Personality and Best Leading Actress awards. In June of the same year, she held her first national tour, in which she visited Tokyo, Nagoya, and Kobe.

Music career[]

She started her career by making the finals of the "Music Ray'n Super Voice Actor Audition" held from 2005 to 2006. All the 4 members of Sphere were in the finals with Toyosaki being in a group with Kotobuki Minako and the other two members, Takagaki Ayahi and Tomatsu Haruka, being in another group. They debuted as a seiyuu idol unit in 2009. With Sphere, she has released 22 singles from 2009 to 2019 with only the most recent not making the top 20 of the Oricon singles charts by just missing at #21 (「Sign」, 2019). Half the singles made it to the top 10 with 「Pride on Everyday」 (2012) and 「Eternal Tours」 (2014) peaking at #6. They have released 5 albums, all of which made the top 20 Oricon album charts and the middle 3 reaching the top 10 with 2012's Third Planet peaking at #3. They have perfromed 19 anime tie-in songs, several game tie-in songs, and a few TV drama tie-ins. They have performed 19 one-man lives, even more joint lives, and many other events.

Around the same time as Sphere debuted, she was part of the fictional high school girl band Ho-kago Tea Time (放課後ティータイム) featured in the anime K-ON!. The group was very successful for about 3 years while the anime was airing and a year or so after. The group included fellow Sphere member Kotobuki Minako.

Alongside her group efforts, she has had a very successful solo career.
